There are 12 units across both model lines that could have faulty power steering sensors, which could disable the electric assistance system while the vehicle is in use.
Mercedes-Benz Australia has issued a recall notice for the 2018 E-Class and GLE, over concerns the power steering could fail.
The three-pointed star reports that ‘certain’ vehicles across both model lines could have a sensor in the electric power steering system that was “manufactured outside of the specification”.
If the condition occurs, the sensor could fail and disable the electric steering assistance. This poses a hazard to the driver and could increase the risk of an accident.
Mercedes-Benz has confirmed there are 12 vehicles affected by this recall from the 2018 model year, sold from 3 September 2018 through 30 September 2018 – a VIN list is available here.
Owners are advised to contact their local dealer to have their vehicle repaired free of charge.
