The risk of a short circuit has forced more than 400 VW vans back to the dealership.
Volkswagen has recalled the 2017-18 ‘T6’ Multivan over concerns about the electric doors and bootlid.
According to the company, water could get into the interior of short-wheelbase T6 models with an electric bootlid and sliding doors, and run into their control unit.
If water gets in, there’s a risk of an incomplete short-circuit with local heat damage. If the doors, windows or sunroof are open, there’s also a risk of fire.
A total of 424 vans are included in the campaign – a VIN list is attached here.
Volkswagen will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to organise a free fix with their nearest dealership. The original recall notice is available here.
