The fault could cause a factory-fitted awning to detach at speed, according to the manufacturer.
The affected vehicles are stamped Model Years 2016-2021.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “The mounting bolts that are used for the Rhino Rack Sunseeker awning may not meet manufacturing specifications and could break. If the bolts break this can lead to the awning becoming detached.
“Should the awning become detached, this could increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and/or bystanders.”

A spokesperson for Ford Australia told Drive “a very small number” of vehicles have been affected by the fault locally.
