Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is a 1971 Datsun 240Z Series 1 that’s stayed in the same family since new.
“The 240Z, known in certain markets as the Fairlady Z, debuted in late 1969 as a 1970 model,” AutoHunter says in the car’s listing. “This example from the subsequent year was reportedly driven on a regular basis for its first decade, then placed into storage in 1981 where it resided in safekeeping until 2019.”
After being released from storage, the 204Z underwent a refurbishment to return it to its original, show-worthy state. The car was given a fresh coat of Racing Green paint accented by factory-correct white stripes on the side panels, sail panel logos, and other OEM badging.
The two-seat interior was reupholstered in factory-original Butterscotch vinyl that’s color-matched to the door panels, headliner and center tunnel side materials.
Interior amenities include air conditioning, a hand-refinished original wood shift knob, a factory wood-rimmed steering wheel, a replacement push-button AM/FM radio and an armrest.
The five-digital odometer shows 51,855 miles which is documented on the title as the actual mileage.
Power comes from the numbers-matching 2.4-liter L24 inline-6 paired with the original console-shifted 4-speed manual transmission.
This Datsun 240Z’s auction ends September 8 at 11:45 a.m. PDT.
