If my memory serves me correctly, Lee Iococca is credited with revolutionizing car financing. In post WWII America people wouldn't buy cars because of sticker shock. Mr. Iococca realized they could hide the cost of vehicles by telling customers they could get them into a car for X dollars a month. Disguising the true of cost of a vehicle was a great achievement (for the car sellers) that is practicing even more today.

The irony is to save Chrysler Mr. Iococca went to President Carter and requested that the government back the money they borrowed, which allowed them to change from gas hog to more fuel efficient technology. While it saved Chrysler and the government made money on the deal, there was a huge conflict at the time over government intervention to save a company. Looking back though it was trivial when compared to the bailouts of 2008.

Wait a minute; 8 or $900 to unmount, change sensors, and re-mount the tires? Sounds a bit high.
