I think you're out of your mind I know a lot of mobile mechanics make a lot of money I have a probably a thousand customers there's no way I will stop doing what I'm doing I work for me and I set my own hours
I do it as a side hustle. If I need to make more money I work more hours. I also limit what I do to jobs that won’t tie up a whole day. I enjoy meeting new people and you never know who may help today may be able to return the favor.
Glad I stumbled on this video. I am starting a mobile mechanic business but like you said my end “goal” is to get to where I can open a shop. We’re just in hard times and I lost my job due to the virus stuff so I figured now is the best time to try to invest in myself since I’ve been working on cars my whole life
The way I did it is, I started with family and friends. After I was recommended to a delivery company where they had around 30 to 40 cargo vans. Then I introduced myself to used car dealership owners. Recently I’ve been called to work on classic cars. Im fine this way don’t need to work on a bunch of cars a day to pay high rent here in California. Organizing jobs keeps my day going smooth. I might open a shop maybe later down the road.I’ll be honest I like driving around also.

there's pros and cons to running a mobile mechanic business but I can say that I've been running my business for two and a half years and don't have any problem it's easily to talk about how you should not run a mobile mechanic business when you don't do that for a living full-time and you're trying to have people go into having a shop when it's less overhead when you have a service truck or utility vehicle ready to go with most of the equipment to perform the everyday maintenance that the customers need because now most shops and dealerships are usually behind or don't take vehicles in because they'll usually tell you they have a three to four day wait and a lot of customers can't afford that due to now most customers don't have backup vehicles

The best way to start getting more experience is to advertise on craigslist services and facebook marketplace. Mainly craigslist. That's how I started and I'm doing ok.
