Biggest load of BS I've ever heard. There should be a sponsorship tag on this video because you're obviously being paid by someone.

Yeah… Nah. I've never had a mechanic honor their work… Ever. So I'll take my chances.

Thing is parts that are marked up fail also and shops will argue that its the persons fault then you're paying the mark up again.
I decided to just be my own mechanic now my parts are good and reasonably priced and when something fails i dont try and rip me off. Win.

Those are a lot of words to cover for the fact that vehicle repairs are a scam.

Nah….. people know exactly why shops don't want you to bring your own parts
Jobber v list, the shop looses their 20 percent markup.
Our shop always allowed customers to bring their own parts and required a waiver on both their part and the shop time.
We always told our customers what we pay for the part and showed the NAPA invoice.
We never one time marked up a part, not once.
Go to a shop with heavy overhead or a Nation chain, bend over.
"Let's be honest"….ITS ALL ABOUT THE MARKUP, you earn your labor rate regarding who supplied the part!

I don't agree with most of your reasoning. Here's why, I bought a starter that I couldn't install without having the proper tool. My fault. I went down to my mechanic and asked if would do it. He then looked up the part number on line and said they matched. It took 2 minutes. He then quoted me hourly shop time and had me sign stating if it didn't work or fit, they are not accountable for that, I agreed to it and told him to go ahead. I paid $125 for the piece on Amazon and saved over $200 on a high quality part. After 3 months, the starter has no issues. So I say, if you can't afford the worse case scenario, then do it his way. Just make sure you're both on the same page.

When i needed rear wheel bearings the price was $450 each, not including labor. I got bearings for $45 each and did it myself. Six years later they are still rolling fine.
