Toyota added gears for efficiency. In my opinion, that's why they are gear hungry. When you cruise on the highway at a constant speed, it's okay. But when you are going to floor it, the transmission has to drop like 4 gears from 8th to 4th for Max power, then shift 4 gear up again to 8th for Max efficiency. Or the gear ratios are shorter for each shift, for constant power at a certain power range.
Lifetime transmission fluid IS good for the lifetime of the car. Because once the transmission goes, your car's lifetime is over!
CAN ANYONE FIND ME A QUICKSTRUT FOR A '96 PASEO!? I've checked all the junkyards around and on the net, and they make for the ugly as hell Camry, but nothe Paseos. I was very happy to find outhat Scotty has the same views as myself with vehicles.
i was thinking about buying a 2019 avalon but it uses the same engine as the Camry so now im getting confused on which car to get from either lexus or honda which dont include these issues hopefully
any ideas?
The Toyota Sienna has an 8 speed transmission with a V6 engine. I think that 8 speeds is too many gears for a vehicle that has 6 cylinders. when you take an 8 speed transmission and put it with a 4 cylinder engine. The car isn't going to perform well because its constantly up shifting. Take the Kia Sedona 2017 it's a V6 with 6 speeds and the transmission shifts really well.
Scotty this is a good video
Toyota transmission are still +++.?
Never buy a new model, meanwhile people are standing in line to get a new C8 Corvette… lol
It’s probably a software issue with the new transmission. Owners complained in the mid 2000’s (I believe it was the 2005 model year) when Toyota went from the 4 speed to a 5 speed automatic in the Camry. They used a TSB to address the issue and update the software.
The type of transmission my next new car has will be a deal maker or breaker
What about the 2020 Toyota Highlander?
