Honda's check to Scotty was late again.

My 98 civic paint held up well but man once that first clear coat started peeling half was gone within 6 months after that and I was super touchy about waxing it and keeping it clean

My 1991 accord dx hd a lot of rust problems, my 2001 civic just in general had a lot of issues with the paint, my 2013 has more issues with door seals, windows that whisle, engine gasket leaking oil at 40k miles and very low quality material with the drivers seat as the seat is worn and now 6 years later the seat has become uncomfortable.

Bad paint… but runs good… I'll buy that.

hey Scotty, this is a bit off topic theres an abandoned car outside my house and the alarm keeps going off, my first instinct was to torch the thing but I was wondering, is there a way to short out the battery from outside the car? Thanks again!

The paint on my 2015 Honda Accord has held up perfect. The thing is I always hand wash my car, I wax it every two or three months, I don’t park in crowded parking lots where people scratch up your paint and don’t leave my car under the baking hot sun. Most people don’t take any care of their paint, they drive through those $5 car washes, they wipe their paint w dirty shammies, they don’t clean off the bird poop, they never wax their car. I feel this could be partly both parties fault.

Also, to the guy who asked about the CR-V and RAV4: For the CR-V, avoid the recent ones with the 1.5 L turbo, as they often have the oil dilution problem. Honda's 2.4 L I4 would be the far better choice (available up to around 2016). For the RAV4, I'd avoid the 2.4 L I4, made up to around 2010 as many of them had oil consumption problems. Go with either the newer 2.5 L I4 or the 3.5 L V6 ( if you want more power). But, the V6 was only available up to about 2013, otherwise you'd have to get a 4Runner or Highlander.
