I trust the Suburban Tires/Mavis here in my town.

@scottykilmer. In California they charge $175-200 rate at dealerships and some Independent shops.

When I've done my own maintenance/repairs I always remembered what Clint Eastwood says, A man has to know his own limitations!

The local Canadian GM/Cadillac dealer has just increased it's hourly rate to $168.00 per hour. When the economy is booming and new car sales are abundant, you'll find that the service shop prices remain stable, but as soon as the economy slumps and new car sales fall, the service shop hourly rate and up-selling rises quickly. Most dealerships sit on a lot of land with high taxes.

I'm lucky enough to have a brother who manages a repair shop so I take my car to them for regular maintenance at a slight discount. They've had employees who've fucked up and caused damage to customers cars but overall they're a pretty respected shop and much cheaper than the dealerships. Construction work is more of my forte as it's what I do for a living and I live in a house that I'm in the process of fixing up and I don't have the time, knowledge or the proper tools to spend a whole day doing something a professional mechanic can do in a couple hours and I have the peace of mind that the work was at least done mostly right as the owner is an ASE certified master mechanic who doesn't do much physical labor anymore but can still help with diagnostics and oversee the work being done before the customer gets their car back

I'm a disabled mechanic it hurts my soul when I pay 1200.00 for a brake job or 1100.00 to replace a 85 dollar radiator or 110.00 for a regular oil change it makes me think I need to get healthy
