No matter who you are, or where you get your car painted… NO PAINT JOB outside of a real auto manufacturer will ever be good quality. Auto manufacturers have state of the art environmental controls on their painting facilities. So, wasting your money on some guy that tells you he's a "PRO" is dumb. Ive had cars painted at Earl Scheib and they looked GREAT.
I would never pay more than $2,000 to 2,500 for a COMPLETE PAINT JOB. If you need body work or rust repair, many times it better to do it before taking it to the paint guy, unless his guys are good, and you can monitor, inspect the world before the paint goes on.
Be proud that your not a pussy who would give up. Some times you gotta get mean and fight that shit. It sucks…i know. Keep pushing!
Thanks. We feel your pain.
Iam a new Land Cruiser FZJ80 owner. I recently decided to address the peeling clear coat on the hood, roof, top of
the rear lift gate and fender flares. My first time painting, first time using a sprays gun (only exposure to setting up gun was YouTube), first time taping,
etc. I rented a spray booth for 3 hours. After taping, getting organized, I only had time to shoot BASE COAT before my time expired and the next guy
entered the booth. QUESTION: How long can I wait to shoot my CLEAR coat? I can not get back in the booth for 3 days! heard…just clean, hit with a tack cloth
and shoot….all the way to needing to scuff the base coat with 2000 grit…then respray a coat of base before shooting clear. Of course, the latter
means I wasted time prepping and shooting base if I have to re-shoot any base at all. What are your thoughts on my 3 day wait before shooting clear? Ok to shoot clear after 3 days or must I wet sand the base first? Thanks
Hey I unfortunately sanded through my clear and base coat. Now the primer shows..is there anything I can do to fix it?
I was prepping the paint before I did the polish and I used 1200 and 500 grit since the scratches were too deep..
I hate urethane paint especially old urethane paint any little breakage in that paint shits get wrinkly real quick don't remind me another day lost of more sanding boss. Ugh Im done 😅😅😧
