Anytime I buy used car I always check the VIN on the door and on dashboard you can even go the extra mile and bring an OBD2 reader which you probably should bring any way to check out things get the VIN number there as well

Make a visual checklist before going to look at cars.
Go through the check list and if all is well, then offer to pay to have it checked out by a mechanic.
If the seller objects and starts complaining, ask yourself why?
If it's too good to be true, it's not.

I bought a my Sienna that was 13 years old and had to have the transmission rebuilt due to dried up O rings. It would take a minute to move shifting it forward first thing in the morning.Cost me over three grand and I don’t regret it.

Can we just stop saying VIN number. It’s just VIN. Not PIN number, no ATM machine.
