I think the transmissions on vehicles have too much torque in them when turning it, I mean a child can turn the crank of a car engine crankshaft, though try turning the shaft of that same cars transmissions shaft. The higher the torque the engine is using, the more fuel that engine will need when rpm's are increased to produce torque.
