I used to own a 1970 Chevy Nova 6 cylinder car, only one I could time by ear and after putting a timing light on it be withing .002 degrees of "dead on" timing. Try doing that with todays' "compukitized" cars!
Not just modern cars, but even from the 70's I've never jumped a vehicle with the donor vehicle running. Old style regulators could be damaged to.

Also different viscosities flow different Gallons Per Minute. Oil is 40% of your engines cooling. That's because there are parts that it touches that the water – antifreeze cannot. But the oil either transfers the heat to the air through a oil cooler, ot to what water – antifreeze cooling system. Sp Gallon Per Minute flow determines how well that is done, so using the right viscosity or weight is important for that reason as well.
