Insurance companies are "legally" stealing
people's money.
Idk guy wont get a Jeep. New ones junk ok, but my 2007 is hemi with 65k miles and goes thru jungle or streams no issues. Comfy too.
Is this more of a problem with OBD 2.0 itself or is it the fact that these chinese dongles are just poorly made and short out after some use?
Look for instrument cluster rebuild and repair. It’s not the whole dash that needs replaced. Quirk of old vs new automotive technical terminology.
There are companies that rebuild instrument clusters for many brands & models. Usually it is the stepper motors for the gauges, or in my case, ford trucks from the 99-03 era used a control board built into the instrument cluster, to shut off headlights and interior lifting and accessories on a timer, as a “battery saver” function. The relay that enables these devices goes bad. Actually it is usually the solder points at the board cracking due to thermal cycling of the relay contacts heating and cooling, causing stress cracking and most times just melting the solder joints at that relay fixes the issues.
A 5 minute repair that takes hundreds of dollars of shop time rates to get out and back in.
Search your make, model, and year, and instrument cluster repair rebuild and you will likely find places that you can send yours off to be fixed, or as a core for a rebuilt unit. Usually for WAY cheaper than buying a new cluster. And there are often videos online on how to pull the cluster and reinstall it, by searching with the make and year. (Often multiple models will have the same cluster)
2:33 followed by 2:56 . Kinda contradictory. So SUVs are bad off road or not?
Good advice.
I’ve been using a scan gauge 2 for 8 years 100,000 miles. No problems. I think this is likely an issue with the cheap dongle.
Didn't you JUST share a similar video a few days ago ??
We took it off, our car was malfunctioning.
