Hey Dr.Scotty My 99 Ford F150 truck every time I start it up I smell antifreeze I can’t really find any leaks and I’m not really losing much coolant what do you think I could be hopefully not a head gasket blown
Whenever you buy a starter from a parts store, ask them if they will test it while you watch, I've seen this happen a few times, and its a real pisser to have to remove a starter you just installed because it is bad. (Watch them so you know the test it properly, This happened to a buddy of mine when he was working on his jeep. they did test it but they connected the tester to the output of the solenoid , and the solenoid was bad.)
The girlfriend test was funny
Sane girlfriend test? Totally epic!
What do you think about safety systems like pre crash systems or traction control
Regarding the caller with the Nissan Pathfinder 2004. If you do NOT use Nissan factory ignition coils, it will NOT work right. A mechanic informed me that the aftermarket part does not put out the proper sign wave that the system is looking for.
Still pissed off? You sure you dont have any problems at home ?
Hey Scotty what do you think about stoner for plastic renewal?
I have a 2011 smart (yeah, I know your feelings on this one – I got it for the novelty cute factor) – I commute 35 miles one way to work (country driving – biggest issue is cattle on road – I drove through a small herd of deer – didn't even startle them .. they just gave me the 'look' …) … Anyway, on Monday on the way to work I noticed it was shifting hard (slamming into R and almost dying when I started out in 1st) and my cruise control didn't work – I'm thinking its time to recycle this car. After work – dead battery. Auto Z came and gave me a jump – got a new battery. Presto chango cruise works again. (oh yeah, this was original battery – 8+ years). However, the shifting problem was getting so bad I called to make an appointment with my 'euro' mechanic in the city (2 hrs away) because he said the transmission could go out at any time or run for years in this thing. After researching I found a trick with MB – hold down gas, turn the key (or vice versa) hold your mouth just right … then start and drive for about 20 min … said it resets the computer … sheeze … driving fine now … cancelled appointment. Its like driving a notebook when everyone else has a pc …. but it still is fun! Does this 'computer reset' work on other brands?
Anyone have an opinion on the new Ford Ranger? I'm still driving my '95 F150.
Scotty, I have a 2019 Colorado, the Hvac seems to not want to blow the temp I have set at for heat. Unless it is in the 80,s and then it is only for a bit. It then drops down and modulates between pissing me off cold and sort of warm. Is this indicative of gm’s engineering being stupid? It seemed like it was in my old 2009 Silverado, which I thought when I bought new would have been fixed. Is it a thing I need to deal with the manufacturer on or am I needing to just deal with it?
