Depending on the age of the car emissions don't matter. In Massachusetts if the car is 15 years old you don't have to worry about it
I had one of those Celicas, pile of rubbish. Gearbox busted at 60k
I had a 2003 Buick Century with 230,000 miles that I bought new. After 15 years I got totalled in a rear end collision. I had no serious issues with it. I wonder how much longer it would have ran if it wasn't for the collision.
If it was 8V without VTEC nonsense and a manual transmission it would probably last 2million miles. And drive a whole lot better.

2004 rav 4s had a computer problem related to the transmission that was a giant pain. I wonder if scotty knows about this.
