Always wondered why in the world Automotive speedometers go to 140, or 160 MPH. (A) The maximum speed limit in the US is around 80 MPH, normally its 65 MPH. (B) Most people don't maintain their cars well enough to be going that fast in the first place. (C) Along with maintenance again , most people don't even think about looking at their Tire Pressure before going that fast risking all sorts of bad stuff happening.
Must be a marketing thing , and a Testosterone booster for folks to see that speedo have all them numbers on there.
Honestly, All Speedos in the US should only have numbers up to 100 MPH. Maybe the psychological impression of driving on the highway with the speedo always past the halfway mark would help people slow the heck down, or not…
