Scottie what I do is no matter what Jack I use I never take off the Jack I just released it enough to touch the Jack stand firmly but then I locked the Jack in place and also secures it for better cause. Why take out the Jack just take off the handle and you've got 2 strong supports holding.

Scotty and I must think alike. We both went cheap for our floor jacks. That spring to help lower it fast is so satisfying it's worth the risk.
