Yep that's exactly what happened, I bet if news had never gotten out that the pipeline shut down we would've never known and there wouldn't be a shortage!
F#@%ing idiots who think they're more important than everyone else, running to stockpile things. THAT'S what really causes the "shortage". If you're old enough to remember, Johnny Carson, as a joke, said there was a toilet paper shortage back in 1973 (there wasn't at the time, he was joking). But idiots responded and it DID cause a shortage due to selfish fools hoarding it.
