Hi Scotty I generally agree that Toyota’s have been and are still pretty rock solid. As you said the weak point of new Toyota’s is the use of oil filter housings. My oil filter housing started leaking probably cause the mating surface had a few scratches from having to cut off the last one that cracked. I thought it was the oil pan gasket at first when my car was leaking oil. But it ended up being the housing. My Camry (2014, 125k) got so low that the lifters started screeching. I immediately stopped the car and went to the gas station and got oil. I have since fixed the problem by using gas line tape
On the threads and silicone grease on the O ring. I haven’t noticed any significant change or loss of MPG. Is there anyway to figure out if I I’ve caused severe damage to the engine?

Scotty, one thing that would help you answer questions faster is to use a speech to text program like Dragon.

Scotty I have an '01 Chrysler minivan with high miles. Van is mechanically sound, runs great, but the paint job is crap and starting to rust. Paint jobs are expensive. Is it worth it to invest in a paint job? Is there another solution? Thank you so much for any advice.

I preferred Toyotas over Hondas but on the other hand much more like manual transmission over toyota cvt in Europe we can't get RAV4 petrol with manual transmission ( toyota big mistake I think) So Scotty you just answer my question that I didn't ask yet 🙂 Will Honda CRV 6speed manual 2.0 i-vitec petrol would be as reliable as Toyota RAV4 cvt 2.0 v-matic? Thank you Scotty!!!!
