The only way I would imagin this being possible to do is if you used your smartphone to snap a picture after every single wire movement/disconnect.
But if the car is old enough, just bypass the heater core.
I would rather be married to my x-wife again–God Forbid–than take that dash apart and put it back together again. Just put a by-pass under the hood and move to Arizona.
One of my least favorite things to do is replacing a starter because, invariably, everything below the engine will be exactly in your way.

Replacing sunroof cables on the mk3 gti has to be on the top 5 worst jobs for this particular model right behind the heater core and a clutch replacement.
Changing out the complete wiring harness on a 2012 Jetta drove me insane similar to this but still had to disassemble the rest of the car all the way to the trunk. Ugh
