Pretty much any interior work is frustrating. The (aging) plastics and raw metals, broken pieces/clips, getting scratched by sharp edges, uncomfortable positions, jimmying parts out of the way only to have them snag on a wire I didn't see, etc.

However, it does give me a chance to get to know the interior spaces better, and even clean them if the need is there!

crazy-heater cores could be placed in such a way as to make replacement super easy-in 1950s cars, the just slid out of the blower fan box. Given that these things fail well after 80K miles, the people who lease cars will never face this-it is the 2nd owner that endures this.

If they want me to be on time or beat the clock without a dash rattle, I better be paid like $50 or I'll find a better job. Screw that, I rather open my own shop and take my real own time and take the full $125 per hour.

I can remove a thousand screws and tie knots in a thousand wires, go away for months and come back and put them all back exactly how they came out, but god help me if I have to get a single dent out of a piece of sheet metal. I'd rather burn my car to the ground than do body work.

You just reminded me I have to change the e-core on my wifes Jetta….bleh

I did this in two days by myself. I didn't have to remove nearly as much stuff, though.

I remember doing my brother's 95 vr6 Jetta heater core oh the agony of working upside down and contorting your hands into areas not meant for full sized people… lots of lost skin and cursing involved that weekend
    Yep one of the toughest
