Actually according to solar irradiance maps of the US, there really isn't anywhere solar isn't worth it. There are places they take longer to pay off, but not by much. The maps posted by the government themselves show that in general 4.5Kwh/m² with the lowest iradiance zone being the very tip north of the new england at slightly less than 4kwh/m². Even the highest energy areas of the US are only between 5.75-6Kwh/m² making it only about 30% better.
I'd say though it's main problem is if you haven't replaced your roof in a long time. Paying for both the roof and panels costs a fortune, but if you have a new roof it's not as big an expenditure. If you really want it cheap, do it yourself. You still have to deal with crap city or state paperwork, but it's about 4 timers cheaper to do and you get to choose the exact panels you want.

Instead of adding propane as a refrigerant what about doing a conversion kit to swap a vehicle from gas to propane where you can hot swap the tanks?

I had a 91 grandmarquis with a serious lifter knock , never ran bad, it was always reliable . in 2013 my wife and I had an 01 Malibu with 120k miles for $500 had a bad lifter knock, always ran perfect.
I went with the late model C117 CLA 250 base for the exact reason of Technology. Then I went into Engineering mode and disabled Auto Start/Stop and the Cellular radio (Me no like that it's hooked up to ignition system).
The M270 engine in later model form (2016+) is pretty rock solid too and so is that 7 speed dual clutch. Avoid the 2014 and 2015 models. They suffer from numerous malfunctions.
This car reminds me so much of my Focus ST except man does it sound better.
