The real reason gas was so high was due to opec taken billiions and billions from countries including ours. What did they do with that money? They fired over 100k employees crashing the production of oil. Opec controls 90% of all the oip in the world. Why would they want to bump up productjon when people are willing to pay $5 a gallon. They made billions upkn billions. Its all about greed and control.

Just like with all those carbon dioxide limits which are knocking down EU countries' economies without making any real effect because whole Europe (not EU only) is responsible for under 10% of global emissions.
