Best car for under $6,000? 1994 Toyota Celica Silver. Second Owner. Originally from Houston, Texas now in Nashville, TN.
It's easy enough to say get the car checked out by a mechanic before you buy it. But there can be certain complications on doing that. For instance if the car was advertised and it's a good car at a good price, the seller may be hearing from other potential buyers, maybe not as concerned as you about getting it checked out first. Also, it could easily be on a Sunday before the seller is available to show you the car. So unless you have your mechanic with you, you're likely going to have to wait until at least Monday before you can take the car to him. And probably the seller would want to go along as well, if he isn't working of course. And at any time during this process, the seller may receive a call from another prospective buyer. Awkward. I say that if you like the car and want it bad enough, be prepared to buy it and risk having it inspected after you've bought it. At least that's what I did.

Scotty, please remind people that changing the light source by putting HID or LED bulbs into halogen headlamps is against federal law (FMVSS 108) for very good reason.

Hey Scotty, I have a '07 dodge nitro 3.7 6spd manual 4wd with 200k on it.
I replaced the water pump at 134k
With the duralast from auto zone.
It's leaking (just a little) after being left undriven for 24 hours..
Seems to happen when it's warm outside. I've meticulously taken care of this crap box, and it leaks no oils.
Any thoughts?
