If you need to take up a little bit of space between a hose that's too big and a plastic nipple, a layer or two of adhesive lined heat shrink over the plastic nipple might be just the ticket.

Vent valves are like Relays. Just because they click does not mean they are good.
If someone was really worried about the vent valve just laying there. You could drill two holes on the canister tray. Feed the zip tie and wrap it around the cylinder of the vent valve and just zip tie it down. ?
