I threw mine away on my car to because it cooked the wires that go to the coils. I brushed on liquid tape where the wire coating dry rotted off the wires. Then I wrapped all the wires above the manifold in spark plug wire insulation.

Engine cover on 2015 and newer GM 3.6 actually serve a purpose, GM engineers made an air intake out of it.
Helps keep paint from peeling right over the hot engine.
