The beauty engine covers also protect the engine heat from damaging the paint on the hood as well! This is one of the reasons, that many of these covers are insulated.

They do keep the heat from rising straight up into the hood and ruining your paint job! Haven't you ever seen those old used cars with the hood paint all coming off worse than anywhere else? The heat still leaves the engine, it just gets slowed by the cover and allowed to blow out of there during the drive.

If you want to talk about bad design, my Cobalt's battery terminal just broke and the connection to the battery became intermittent! Why is this bad? Well, because you don't know if it's not working until you put the key in the ignition. This doesn't allow the engine to start nor does it allow you to remove the key bc it thinks you're trying to steal the car! Now once I know I have a battery problem, I want to get to the battery which is in the trunk! But the key fob doesn't work without power, and the trunk can't be opened with the key because it's stuck in the ignition! Good thing I can climb into the trunk through the back seats! Oh wait, you need to pull the seat releases first which are both IN THE TRUNK TOO! F_ck Chevy.

Illinois is cold as hell in the Winter, I don't need to go to Alaska.

good point scotty, I think it is very unnecessary to have them engine covers on, even when it’s summer time, I would take them off just so it’s not adding heat to the engine when we’re trying to cool down

When I bought my most recent car, the mechanic, who I trust, told me it was needed for the air cooling flow.
