We have put 150,000 miles on our 05 Chevy Tahoe with the check engine light and it hasn't had a single problem

My engine light is on due to minor evap leak. Problem for me is in Illinois we have pollution testing. I won't pass.

I had a car that burnt through 5l litres of oil every 11 days. Ran perfectly but basically required oil as much as petrol. 😂

In many states, the annual State inspection will fail you if there is a check engine light on, so it does mean something. The cause of the check engine light has to be addressed, the light reset and then the car has to be driven a few hundred miles to fully reset the monitors and prove the check engine light is triggered again in order to pass the State inspection.
