DOT 5 brake fluids are not hydroscopic. DOT 3 ,DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 are hydroscopic, with DOT 3 being much worse in this area than the other 2. It is best not to mix different brake fluids though it can be done with all but DOT 5.

Very practical and probably essential advice for anyone trying to warm themselves up in a car in this awful weather !!! Bless your heart for thinking of this !!♡!!

I lived in Wisconsin for 18 years. 15 of those I had front wheel drive(Fiesta, Tempo, Escort) with radial all-weather tires and got stuck 3 times. Pretty good since I had 20+ miles one-way to get to work. Of course there were many times I just stayed home but usually everyone was staying home those times. Good info Scotty. I didn't know about the brake fluid. Stay warm!

I understand that sometimes people can't afford a Toyota, and they end up with an endless money pit, but I laugh when they ask you questions about it. Example: Scotty, I have a g m, dodge, Chrysler, jeep, Nissan, Korean vehicle, european vehicle and it is doing this. That is when I say "aw too bad for you". I think you feel the same way.

Here is the example of "it won't crank" so what is the real situation ? some people relate "won't crank" to not starting. others it means the engine will not "turn over", but again it is terminology and carry over from mis-information. I had to first define what the customer was actually trying to tell me. You immediately went to "doesn't crank" . but I am thinking fuel pump relay or intermittent oil pressure switch on the "Safety fuel pump interrupt circuit. Hugsssssssssssss old man , I've been at this since 1963
