Scotty am coming up to 100000 on my rav4 2018. I've spoke to 2 places about having my transmission fluid changed and they both insist it should be flushed. I was sure you had said not to let them flush it or is that just for older cars.
06 mini cooper s auto trans had slipping issues. I changed the fluid 1 qt each month. Eventually to being the amount of 30-50%. It shifted smoothly after doing this
I inherited my grandfather's 1979 Ford with a C-6 transmission. He had never once changed the fluid or filter, but the transmission shifted like new. I didn't dare change it for the reasons you mention. After 21 years of daily driving it never slipped!
