another possibility on the brake pedal sinking is the seals in the pressure chamber are worn and the fluid is just bypassing the piston, that was one of the first things I learned when I started driving over 50 years ago, one of my mentors was helping me figure it out and he said there was no fluid leaking externally so you just need to replace the master cylinder, and he was right. they must be building them a lot better now, in all the time since I've never had to replace one again. it can still happen tho especially on a vehicle that does a lot of stop and go driving
