In this video we have a look at a Chevrolet Silverado that has had the Ziebart undercoating sprayed on it every year since it was new. In our experience here in the salt belt this type of rubberized undercoating WILL DESTROY your vehicle. Unfortunately this vehicle will not make it past ten years old before the frame is completely rotted in half, despite the customer doing what he thought was right. Be sure to do your research folks before applying any type of “coating” under your vehicle.

There is another electrolysis method using sacrificial metal to stave away rust. No mention of it here.

What's the best way to remove it? Wire wheel or steam pressure washer? Sorry if I sound clueless but don't really deal with this crap and was just curious.

wow…. That is too bad for that Chevy. I just grab a can of regular car black paint and spray it on once in a while. And works ok for me.

In the old days cars still had body on frame which made it easier basically to coat the whole frame with primer, multiple coats and some form of sealer. It's a real pain living so far up North with all the salt rotting away the frame. My grandfather told me his mother would have to replace her exhaust every two years since they laid so damn much salt.

There is a Krown dealer in my town. The owner drives a MINT condition 1985 Blazer without a spec of rust or bondo on it… guess what he used? 😉

Cosmoline. Better than Fluid Film and Krown.

I like Rust Chek better than Krown up here in Ontario Canada. Krown worped my front spoiler on my 1987 Grand Nat'l after the 1st yr I went to try it out. Prior to that I had Rust Chek sprayed for about 15 yrs. I use Fluid Film on my snow blower and WD-40 on other stuff to keep it from rusting. Those tar undercoating companies need their asses sued. I remember I had my brand new 1978 Z28 that I ordered new sprayed with Bondeco. It was that black crap. My new 1980 Z28 I ordered new was sprayed by Vital. It was sort of like a clear composition like fluid film. My 1977 Z28, my very 1st new car I ordered was not sprayed with undercoating. My 1970 Z28 I bought in 1981 and still own today has been sprayed with both Krown and Rust Chek. You can buy both Krown and Rust Chek from Canadian Tire in a rattle can. My vote is for Rust Chek. It's an excellent creeper.

Is it OK to have an interior of a cargo van sprayed with this stuff?
