Yo! I was doing these myself and I found using a dual action orbital sander with 80 grit I was able to remove the old foam. But you don't just sand it off!, You kinda dig the sander under the foam and the 80 grit will basically trim the old foam off!! Upvote this for visibility! It was waaaaay faster than using a wire brush

one suggestion is that you let your adhesive tack up on fabric and on board before bonding.if you want the strongest bond
