Dimplingyour intake actually increases the velocity of air through the intake, it's been proven with airflow meters. The gains are negligible on most builds. Essentially air, like water, sticks to the walls (the reason driving 80 mph won't clean pollen off your car completely) and forms a super thin blanket that has high friction at the eurface of the metal, where dimples reduce the thickness of this "invisible" friction blanket. It has long been proven that perfectly polished intakes flow at a lower velocity than those with a rougher surface. It's even been proven to work to make sail boats faster by dimpling the entire hull which reduces the friction of the water.
