2 totally different drain plug locations . If the first mechanic is using that method on the second mechanics drain plug he would still have some oil drip on him

Most old mechanics I know don't worry about getting oil on their hands, arms, or anywhere else. They keep a can of gas and a box of rags handy to wipe her off with.
