    Dodge caravan needs transmission. Time to move on and buy a 94 Toyota celica.

    I'm sure modern transmissions are much more complex these days but in 1979 my father a self taught mechanic rebuilt my Ford C4 transmission and it worked like new and The rebuild kit cost $50 .

    Dude, that rear end needs more than a two year warranty.

    I can rebuild a simple push rod engine but I wouldn't even try and rebuild a transmission, especially an automatic.

    The 4T60-E used in GM cars is unreliable. To replace the solenoid, you have to partially disassemble the transmission. If you get it replaced with a remanufactured unit, it's going to cost about $3500. From my experience, most of those remanufactured units start causing problems in less than a year.

    I went through this adventure years ago with people who did know what they were doing – it's not worth it.

    I have seen a disassembled automatic transmission………it looks more complicated than an engine. Truly not an easy job at all.

    I have known a few people over the years that had transmission trouble and they are never right. Better off just to dump the car
