I am currently on a 10k mile oil interval. It leaks about a qt. every 1000 miles so its always getting fresh oil, and after 10k miles it gets 10 new quarts of oil and has a 7+ quart capacity. If it didn't leak i would probably still change the oil at 10k but change the filter at 5k mile intervals.
