If there was a life or death situation I don't give a ***! There's another door like wtf😂
That latch should be mechanical and electrical, actuated by cables inside the door from the handle and lock button. It also has electronic lock and unlock solenoids for control from the remote or on board body control module.

Then engineers ruined it by running everything on the entire car through the computer. As vehicles have become more complex, drivers have become more stupid. I retired in 2017 and am so glad I don't have to work on these new POS vehicles anymore. Keep up the good work Pete.
I could see this sort of nonsense coming down the 'pike at us when I bought my 1995 Blazer two-door back in 1995; the back glass won't open with a dead battery. So, even though I HAD jumper cables, it was almost like I didn't have them, until I climbed into the back from the inside to fetch them.
