I remember back in the seventies when they had the bright idea of putting the radio antennae in the front windshield. First it didn't work that well and second it cost more to replace the windshield. That went away, and hopefully putting the anti-collision components in the windshield will go away also.

Bad advice about the sensors in the grill or bumper being better than the windshield mounted sensors. You're more likely to damage the front end of your car than the windshield. Even a parking lot ding can mess with those front mounted sensors.
To make cars safer just remove all the nuts between the steering wheel and drivers seat;)

2018 Camry, sensor is a camera behind the windshield. Cost $550 at either safelite or the dealer.
This already happened to me in my 19 Corolla hatch. Paid $500 deductible thru the insurance since a big rig trashed my windshield. Safelite said they couldn’t recalibrate and to take it to the dealer. Dealer wanted $700 just to recalibrate the sensors. Figured I’d just say F it and drive without the unnecessary tech.
