When I was 17, I purchased new a 1979 Corolla with a 5spd manual. No A/C in Florida – oMG! I tried to kill it many times but it just kept going…until I got T-boned. Amazing car that I didn’t appreciate as a kid. I replaced it with a Ford EXP. That was a fun car too. Ripped the pollution control crap out of both of them. Put an oversized Weber carb on the EXP – that woke it up!

I learned to drive manual transmission on my dad's old 1986 Celica. That was a solid built car and even ran once with low oil without blowing up the engine.
