Got to love a cheap work truck. The great thing about cheap work trucks is you can beat the crap out of them and use them for stuff they were never designed for. Ah, the freedom and practicality.

I went from an '00 2.7L/auto PreRunner to an '09 4.0L/4WD/MT Frontier. Loved my Tacoma but the comfort/performance/solid ride and feel of my Frontier is great. The seats in the Tacoma were really tough on my back on drives of an hour or more.
It's the '70's/'80's all over again Scotty. Toyota and Datsun.
The best cheap truck was a Ford Courier. Ford body, Mazda engine. It ran cheap and forever !

I have hte same truck 2013 model in 2WD, 215,000 miles. It was a really good truck at first, but now with new shocks/struts, helper springs on the rear, and Load rating E tires all around, it is a GREAT truck and perfect for me.
Definitely not "the best cheap truck ever made". 2.2 S10s take the cake on that
