I think that overall quality of cars changes a lot over continents.
Vw in the us has a pretty bad build quality, and fiats are well known for tragically unteliable engines.
In europe VWs are considered well built cars, and you can find fiats in the 500k miles range.
Also is worth considering that cars are fit for purpose so theres no reason driving a fiat 500 in the us as an f350 in italy
