2:00 I've actually done that with my lawn mowers, and there are a few YouTube videos of people doing that to old cars like yours. Yes, it will work for the time you said you will be keeping it, but wear is certainly increased quite drastically. In fact, I typically could only get one or two seasons out of my lawn mowers before I started having problems out of them and had to scrap them. …but yeah. You're not going to hurt the environment enough with those oil leaks to justify using cooking oil as a lubricant.
…though if you're wanting to convert the fuel system to run off cooking oil, GAME ON! ^.^
