I don't know what's going on in USA , but 1999-2000 Toyota Yaris ( Platz/Vitz ) is one of the most reliable cars in here , and still there's a good market for them , may be the sole reason is popularity , Yaris is so popular in Asia therefor lots of spare parts available and easy to repair , In USA it's not that popular likewise Ford Focus is really reliable in USA markets but it's considered a pretty bad choice in Asia
What???? The 1999-2005 version of the Toyots Yaris here in the UK is one of the most reliable cars in the country. Theres so many around, the parts and maintenance are cheap too.

I owned a 1983 AMC Concord Wagon with the reliable 250 Straight 6 engine..Purchased in 2000 w/35,000 miles drove it to 65,000 miles only changing oil and tires.I still have it in storage.
Haven't started it in about 5 years.
