Hi Scotty, I urgently need to ask you this, so hope you can reply. I bought a used 2005 Mazda 3 off a friend, for needed a car. I have now had it for 5 months but, this morning, I went for a drive and was 15min into it and heard this slight knock. I looked at the dash and the engine light was on plus, the AT light. I did a U turn and came home. I left the car for about half an hour, then started it and checked the oil dipstick and the transmission dipstick but both seem to have oil coating them. I then re-started the car for 5min and in park went through the gears. Then drove it 400mtrs to return home again, the AT light had gone off but motor light still on. What do you think may have or is causing this issue ??.

You are never going to get the coolant hot enough by heating it to open the thermostat.

2012 Scion Xd does it have a transmission filter like this Honda ?? Or different one ?

Warning Scotty! Screw clamp are not good if that part experience thermal expansion; when the pipe is hot, the rubber pipe want to expand in diameter and in the same time, the rubber it became soft; when the pipe became cold back, it start to contract and in the same time, the rubber became hard. Because of these hot-cold procceses, the screw clamp experience cyclic loading and it will became loose and will became to lose fluid. On the other hand, an elastic clamp like it was used, will contract with the pipe and will jeep constant tight => will not get loose!

Does the Odyessy 2005 has a transmission fluid filter too?

Such an informative video! Some Honda dealerships don't even know about these filters!! A friend of mine just last week wanted to get his changed on his 2.4 TSX (same setup as this Accord) and Honda didn't know what he was asking for when he went to buy the filter!

Highly recommend changing these filters, along with the ATF once a year on automatic Honda's – it'll really help with the longevity of the transmissions 🙂
