Scotty, about the lithium ion battery battery life thing: the Tesla driver obviously had a defective something… and yes, keeping battery health accuracy high over time is not a perfect science…. That’s why these systems need periodic re-calibration!
An example is a smartphone. Charge it fully and don’t allow it to sleep until it dies, then after recharging it should recalibrate the battery health to reflect what the actual runtime capacity is at that time.
