The Hilux can beat any car in the globe. In Australia some models have got above 400'000 kilometers with the stock engine, and all the stock transmission. The ultimate car for the apocalypse.

After my hybride forester, this is my dream car.

The Hilux i have looking for in december 2020, was the 2021 Ultimate version, with a automatic gearbox, 4 leather seats. I can charge on the back 1 ton of weight and this vehicle is capable to tract 3.5 tonnes !

As an Australian who knows these well (2 friends made the unfortunate decision to buy these) these should not be considered a Hilux. The 2.4 turbo diesel (2L-te) is not reliable and blows head gaskets regularly. They just weren't designed for the heat (2x batteries for very cold starts in Japan). Especially the autos who shared the radiator for cooling. There are work arounds and I've tried many of them but they still overheat doing long pulls up steep hills. Get a real Hilux with a 2.4 (2L), 2.8 (3L) or 3.0 (5L) diesel engine. You won't get there quick, but you'll get there no matter what.

I had a HiLux while I was deployed to Afghanistan. That damn thing was a TANK! The AC worked like a beast and kept me and my K9 cool…
