Giant grills wouldn’t be a trend if it wasn’t popular. They sell and that’s all that matters and besides beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
It may not be a trend, there might be a push of regulations from politicians and/or the EPA to switch to hybrids and electrics, which has it's pros and cons. Only middle class people will be able to afford electric and hybrid cars, even used because of the battery and charging system. Older cars will become harder to get and parts will become scarce from the manufacturer but companies that make parts will appear and design generic and good parts to replace the bad ones, but it won't be cheap. Eventually their value will be based on their demand.
